A Box
Hi Guys,

I’m Hedgemony Heginald the 13th, also known as Hedgie.
You’re probably wondering where Ryrie is. Well, sometimes I like to steal his computer, and this is one of those times. I decided that I would like to write a blog post as well.
If you don’t know who I am, I am a huge hedgehog stuffed animal and I have traveled the world with Ryrie since he was three years old when his grandma gave me to him. I’ve hiked from Antigua to Atitlan in Guatemala, cruised up the Langtang Valley of Nepal, hung out in the Choco of Colombia, cruised pubs in Comrie, Scotland, and even visited Stinson Beach, California and City of Rocks, Idaho. I’m a well-heeled hedgehog!
And, there is something really special about me: when Ryrie first got me, he told me that every day is my birthday. So that makes me close to 2,190 years old already, and I’m still counting.
Up until the Dolomites, the trip was pretty good. We had already been to Germany, France, and Switzerland which brought me up to my 9th, 10th, and 11th countries visited, and Italy made 12.
The Dolomites were a pretty cool mountain range. I think one of my distant hedgehog relatives once lived in a hole under Sassolungo.
Anyway, back to the point. Everything was going fine until the day we were scheduled to drive to Slovenia and Ryrie left me up in the loft. I was there for about six days! (Or six hours…I’m not very good with time as I lost my pocket watch in the river in Mexico a few years ago.)
When Elisabetta from the hotel found me, she put me in a box along with Ryrie’s favorite stinky sneakers and some other random things that I have no idea why he wanted back anyway.
It was a really rough ride in that box. I was bouncing a lot over high mountain passes, dirt roads, and around curves. I think I dislocated my spleen in the process.
When I finally stopped moving, I was picked up and started moving again. I found some cherry marmalade in that box and ate the whole jar and gained about six pounds, but that doesn’t matter too much because I do my calisthenics every morning.
I could feel it when I entered Slovenia. I don’t know why but I get this tingling feeling every time I get to a new country. I think it might be my transportation tingle.
Anyway, after what really was six days, I made it to the pharmacy in Bovec where my new friend Natasa received me but still kept me in the box.
At long last, light finally starting seeping through the cracks in the box and there was Ryrie staring down at me with a huge smile. He scooped me up and hugged me so hard. I think I might have dislocated my spleen again, but that doesn’t matter because I’m finally back together with Ryrie again (even though he did leave me).
I need to stop writing now because there is a salad nearby and I really want to eat it.
Bye, Hedgie
